Maybe it was that she was a child of the 90s and a lifetime of being told that she could do anything if she put her mind to it, but Darcy had been so convinced that balancing a full time career in Panem's new political system, having a family of her own, and still being able to pursue her other assorted interests would be so easy.

As it turned out, it was all bullshit. Being an adult was bullshit. Kids were bullshit (even if she loves them). Marriage was also bullshit, but she kind of knew that one from watching her parents' marriage fall apart as a teenager.

But, while marriage was totally bullshit, it's not as bullshit as it could've been. Which is saying a lot because...well, Punchy has some good points, but spousal skills definitely isn't one of them.

Which is why, on this particular day, she's trying to juggle dinner and a baby while Punchy...does whatever the fuck it is he does instead of making dinner. "Can I have a little help here?"

Oh, looks like she finally hit that 'nope, can't juggle anymore' wall.

Punchy doesn't have a job. Punchy has passion projects. Currently, that's setting up a school in what used to be District Five, which is a noble goal that's been derailed into egotism by Punchy's insistence that there be a marble statue of him at the gates. It also isn't a job that's making him any money, which means that Darcy's income has to support them both.

"Stop riding my jock, shawty," Punchy yells over his shoulder, angling his cameraphone just so as he tries to coax his eighteen month-old to put a hot pepper in her mouth. "A'ight Li'l Homie, do it for the vine."

Christ, they have ugly babies. Punchy has no idea how two gorgeous people would mix and match so badly as to have kids that look like this. One of them got all of the nose, and the other got all the chin, and really it's a giant mess. Punchy's convinced they'd be internet famous if only his damn babies didn't look like redhaired potatoes.

Li'l Homie (née Biggie Ezra O'Connor-Lewis, after a notorious rapper and that guy from Vampire Weekend despite Punchy's insistence that any name ending in an A must be feminine, Catholicism be damned (not really)) bats his eyes at the pepper and gums it, but doesn't break the plasticky red skin.

"Yo shawty," Punchy yaps again, "when we gonna get some chow? My gut's putting a fucking riot up over here."
